In Kaunas Science and Technology Park, “Rubedos” company has developed three-dimension environmental perception technology or "thinking eyes" for municipal robots. The “thinking eyes” is a smart device that not only monitors the robot environment independently, but also interprets the observed image for the robot. There are a number of specialized solutions available on the market that are only able to "see" or "think", but there are hardly any economical, integrated solutions that can make both actions and train for new tasks at the same time. Such devices, developed together with the scientists of Vytautas Magnus University and Kaunas University of Technology, are being tested by foreign robotics companies that implement robots in manufacturing industry and defence sector. Based on its product and other technologies, the company develops a specialized solution for automation of production logistics. As a part of the Kaunas Science and Technology Park Innovation Community, the company has abandoned its standard service business model and few years ago focused on the research, experimental development and new products in robotics. The developers of the company managed to convince the Lithuanian Council of Science to fund research activities; later the team has attracted venture capital investment for further development of robotics products.
